Indonesia consider to raise export taxes on permitted mineral ores export from 0-7.5% to 15-20% from 2017.
Indonesia’s ministry of finance has issued a progressive export tax under the new regulation signed by the country’s president in order to regulate mineral concentrate exports and push miners to build smelters and refineries in the country.
The country will gradually raise exports taxes on permitted mineral exports until a complete ban is in place by 2017, the country’s finance ministry has said. Raw materials including copper, iron ore, zinc, lead, manganese and titanium, will each be given specific tariffs which will be raised each year in a bid to encourage miners to beneficiate or build refineries and smelters.
